UQ Anthropology Museum

April 29, 2025

UQ Anthropology Museum houses one of the largest (if not the largest) anthropology collection in Australia with around 28,000 artefacts and over 11,000 photographs. The collection includes native Australian and Southeast Asian water-craft, paintings, bodywear, hunting gear, a large quantity of stone tools, including grindstones and axes. Scientific field collections and private donations are also showcased. As a whole the collection describes mid-late 20th century Queensland and the Pacific region cultural interactions. Smaller collections from southern Africa and Southeast Asia are also part of the collection.
